About Springvale Studios was opened in 1986 as an analogue studio built into a converted stable of a large country house in Ipswich, Suffolk. Situated near to the junction of the A12 and A14 but very much in the country. As with all things the analogue equipment receded and the digital equipment increased keeping only those parts that were in a way classic.

A full upgrade to Protools direct to hard disk recording was complete in 1995 making this one of the first studios to operate with almost total TDM mixing and FX. This was to speed up the recording process no end and made the studio a great deal more productive.

A flow of bands needing complex combination live and triggered drum sound and complex delay based guitar recording ensued. The studio continues to this day to offer the finest live drum recording with today¹s sample based drum triggering and FX.

For guitar recording a variety of classic amps and speakers are always available as well as such rarefied things as Motherload speaker simulater. Lots of cool knobs on that one to fiddle with, having finished with fiddling with them on your own trusted amp. Tweak any way you like!

As for the drum room it has proved popular as a live rehearsal facility for bands of up to six persons in comfort it also contains an audiophile collection of high frequency horns and low frequency speakers including JBL Concert series I pair 4850, Acoustic control corp. sub bass with four cerwin vega drivers. 1 pair Altec Voice of the theatre system with JBL bass drivers fitted and a pair of beautifully crisp JBL Coral's. All tightly controlled with a JBL DSC 260 And powered with Carver power amps to 4000 watts of clinically clean sound.

Luckily there are no noise restrictions here. Live recordings made in this room sound very powerful and clear with a range of Neuman akg and shure classic mics. Studio control room monitor set up with I pair of Klipsch Heretic 11, I pair Lenteck KEF large format Transmission line monitors B139 Bass, a pair of JBL Control 5 and Kenwood S 51 Domestic hi-fi or Rear Surrounds. Main monitors are Tannoy SRM 12X and RCF Monitor 8s. Phew! So the AB gets as far as F from the point of view of what it might sound like when you get it home.
