Resource: Rehearsal Rooms About The idea of Area 9 rehearsal rooms was derived by our own experiences of using rehearsal rooms and the frustration of not being able to gain consistent rehearsal space in Medway and the surrounding area due to the great demands from the many talented musicians in the area.

Seeking the appropriate space to site Area 9 we found ideal premises in Fort Horsted Chatham. The napoleonic fort is a great hideaway. The rehearsal rooms are located in one of the casements and therefore isolated from any residential area and is ideally suited for the placement of a rehearsal studio.

Our initial plan was to cater solely for mature musicians and groups but as we realised there was a social need for such a facility we incorporated the ability for young people to take advantage of the services we are able to offer.

Area 9 is committed to giving young people in Medway and surrounding areas the opportunity to express themselves and have fun in all musical aspects in a safe and secure environment. All Area 9 staff are CRB checked and have extensive experience working with children and young people from all backgrounds.
