I am a freelance songwriter and professional musician. I write songs across many genres from Scrumpy & Western (a sub-genre of English folk) to pop, rock, country and urban. I am a current member of PRS and PPL, as well as the Musician's Union, where I sit on the Gig Section Committee.
I have been "writing songs" since the late 70s, but only in the last five years have taken the process seriously. In November 2009 I made a conscious effort to learn the real craft of writing songs, and in January 2011 after attending 'The Song' residential songwriting course run by Martin Sutton, I started writing songs with a commercial edge across multiple genres.
I am looking for cowriting opportunities with other songwriters. As my strengths are in lyrics writing, I am especially keen to collaborate with songwriters whose can come up with strong melodies and musical arrangements. A proven track record is not essential, but obviously a bonus. Great business contacts are also a plus, but attitude, enthusiasm and ambition are key.
